After making the decision to sign a “Never Trump” list, dozens of Republicans can’t seem to figure out how they also signed up for a “do-not-hire” list within Donald Trump’s white house.
The Washington Post reported, “If called upon by President-elect Donald Trump, they stand ready to serve their country again. But their phones aren’t ringing. Their entreaties to Trump Tower in New York have mostly gone unanswered.”
Many of these “Never Trump” non-starters actually come from past Republican administrations. Some names include Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge, retired Air Force General Michael Hayden (CIA, NSA), and former trade ambassadors, which include Robert Zoellick and Carla Hills.
Trump NaySayers Find Themselves Blacklisted
While many people supported Republican candidates other than Donald Trump, these “Never Trump” individuals decided to publicly speak out against Trump, which is why they have now found themselves uninvited for active duty.
If this sounds a bit harsh, consider the letter signed by 122 members of the GOP, which read, “We commit ourselves to working energetically to prevent the election of someone so utterly unfitted to the office.” They also called Trump’s trade policies “a recipe for disaster,” while his views for the country were “unmoored in principle.”
Reaping What You Sow
As if that wasn’t harsh enough, they also decided to call the man “fundamentally dishonest.” Presuming these individuals felt that all is fair and love and war, and that they could simply apologize, Trump isn’t having it.
In addition, for those who still stand strong against Donald Trump, they may be surprised to find that many of their friends and colleagues are entertaining offers from the white house. Trump’s political advisors will continue to leave their anti-supporters on the blacklist.
The Washington Post has even said that this blacklist can be considered “hostile.” “It’s not just that we’re frozen out…I was told they said there was an enemies list,” claimed an anonymous source. It’s about time Washington found someone who wouldn’t flip-flop on his values.
Do you think Donald Trump is being too harsh on those blacklisted?
