Summer Ribfest Considers Dropping Toby Keith
In Naperville, Illinois, the summer Ribfest event may drop Toby Keith after his performance at President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The pre-scheduled event said that Trump is now “too political” to perform at their annual festival.
Before the election, Toby Keith didn’t publicly defend either candidate, but chose to perform at the event regardless of the winner. Keith said he would not “apologize for performing for our country or military.”
Keith Unlike Other “Bandwagon” Celebs
Before Trump won, Keith said, “This election, I don’t think it makes a difference. I can’t believe there’s 300 million Americans in this country, and we’ve got these two as our final two. It’s absolutely crazy.”
Toby Keith is unlike most celebrities, who have lost their gumption lately.
Outside of Keith’s inauguration performance, some of the residents have also claimed that they’re offended by some of Toby Keith’s lyrics. Oddly enough, Keith’s songs aren’t new, so this sounds like a bogus claim.
Festival Won’t Be Pressured By Protestors
“Ribfest talent is negotiated and selected months in advance of the event,” said the event’s Facebook page. “At no time does the Exchange Club of Naperville make any political statement or endorsement. At no time are artists booked based on their political beliefs or actions.”
With that in mind, the committee is disregarding the protestors and will have Toby Keith perform despite these liberal naysayers.
Would you attend a concert or festival where protestors would be present?
